He finished 6th at Portland and 7th at Burke Lakefront Airport, where he was battling for 2nd with Mario Dominguez when they collided on the penultimate lap. Dan was again competitive at San Jose, moving up from 9th to 2nd before a gearbox failure put him out at mid-distance. At his next race, in Denver, Clarke moved into 3rd place in the final lap (because of a collision of two drivers ahead of him) to achieve his first podium finish as a Champ Car driver. Indeed, the Denver 3rd place was the first podium finish for a Champ Car Rookie driver in the 2006 racing season. He will return to the team for the 2007 season, now named Minardi Team USA, joined by new teammate and former Minardi F1 driver Robert Doornbos. Dan McVicar (1098 words)
Dan has pretty much had the same routine on and off since he debuted on the show in 1987.
Dan's gym is just a couple of blocks away, which makes it easy for him to "slip in a little workout." Since it's a sunny day in Los Angeles, Dan opts to walk there.
Dan makes a run to the commissary and grabs some lunch to take back to his dressing room, where he removes his makeup and changes out of Clarke's wardrobe.
Ex-Aide Recounts Terror Warnings (washingtonpost.com) (823 words)
Clarke told the commission in testimony yesterday afternoon that whereas the Clinton administration treated terrorism as its highest priority, the Bush administration did not consider it to be an urgent issue before the attacks.
But perhaps the day's most dramatic moment came at the start of Clarke's testimony, when he issued an apology that prompted sobs and cheers from the front rows of the packed hearing room, which were filled with relatives of victims of the terrorist attacks.
Three GOP members of the group, for example, grilled Clarke on his motivations, suggesting that he had been contradictory in his statements and dishonest in the past about his misgivings about counterterrorism policies.
