In his first season with the club in 2005/06, Colin brought experience to the centre of the Rotherham defence. The Northern Ireland international started his career as a junior at Manchester United but hadn't broken through to the first team when he moved to Preston in May 1997, commanding a fee of £100,000. Colin notched more than 200 league and cup appearances while at Deepdale and he then moved north of the border to Hibernian before joining Crewe in the latter part of 2004/05.
