Encyclopedia > Cold saw

Cold saws use a solid steel, resharpenable circular sawblade, an electric motor and a direct drive worm gear, reducing the sawblade's rotational speed to 54 RPM to produce maximum torque. A cold saw cuts faster, straighter and more safely than a hot or band saw. A cold saw cut produces no burr, no heat, no discoloration, no sparks, no dust and almost no noise.
