**Claude Berge** (June 5, 1926 – June 30, 2002) was a French mathematician active in discrete mathematics and more specifically combinatorics and graph_theory. He is particularly remembered for his book *Graph Theory and Its Applications* (1958) which was translated in several languages and brought the mathematical theory of graphs to a wide audience.
