For a Core world Chandrila is sparcly populated and surprisingly rural. Cities, small and scattered, are seperated by terraced gardens and kilomaeters of gentle rolling plains. Livestock herds are alowed to roam freely, sometimes tying up traffic on the sparce thoroughfares. Residents and tourists are entranced by the Hanna Wild Game Reserve, teh Gladean State Parks and the crystal waters of Lake Sah'ot. The planet's unspoiled beuty in fact has often been compaired to Alderaan. Fresh air must be a catalyst for free thought, for the Emperor experienced nearly as much opposition from Chandrilla as from Alderaan. The Native inhabatants have always felt they could discuss -and more often debate- their political opinnions without fear of official reprisal. It was iin this tolerant ennvironment that Mon Mothma grew upin a sparkling port city on the shores of the Silver Sea. During the Clone Wars Chandrilan Senator Mon Mothma was a memeber of the Delegation of 2000 which presented a petition to the Chancelor with the aim or curtailing his growing exectutive power. When Palpatine declaired himself Emperor she was forced to flee and along with Bail Organa (Crown Prince and Senetor Form Alderaan) acted as leader of the Rebel Alliance. Omonda was arested and tortured into a making a false confession of crimes against the Empire. The planet was the site of a major battle between Imperial forces and Rogue Squadron. Imperial Moff Seerdon intended to blockade the city and stop all intersellar trade on the planet.
