Cascade Township is a township located in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 419.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 105.9 km (40.9 mi). 105.9 km (40.9 mi) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


As of the census2 of 2000, there are 419 people, 172 households, and 130 families residing in the township. The population density is 4.0/km (10.2/mi). There are 245 housing units at an average density of 2.3/km (6.0/mi). The racial makeup of the township is 98.81% White, 0.00% African American, 0.72% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 172 households out of which 25.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.3% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.4% are non-families. 18.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.78.

In the township the population is spread out with 21.5% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 106.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.8 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $39,896, and the median income for a family is $45,208. Males have a median income of $31,000 versus $22,813 for females. The per capita income for the township is $19,465. 8.6% of the population and 5.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.5% of those under the age of 18 and 15.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

He then enlisted in the One Hundred and Forty-third Pennsylvania Volunteers, and was mustered in as first sergeant of Company K. He served with his regiment in all of the marches and battles in which it participated up to the battle of the Wilderness, where he was severely wounded.

A combination of limited access highways – Interstate I-96 and I-196, U.S. 131 and M-6 connect the Township and the greater Grand Rapids area with principal areas of Northern Michigan and intersect the Indiana Turnpike approximately 70 miles south, providing access to Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Illinois toll roads.
The residents of Cascade Charter Township are supplied electricity by Consumers Energy, natural gas is furnished by DTE Energy and Consumers Energy and telephone service is provided by SBC, as well as TDS Metrocom.
