Candida joined pop group Pulp (created and fronted by Jarvis Cocker) in 1984. Candida replaced the recently departed Tim Allcard and joined Magnus Doyle, her brother who joined Pulp in an earlier line-up. Candida plays keyboard and sings backing vocals once a while. During the first few years for Candida, Pulp was not enjoying financial success and she had been recorded as saying that she spent more money on the band than she made from it.
