Cablevision Systems Corporation NYSE: CVC is a cable television company that serves parts of the Northeast of the United States, with most customers residing in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Cablevision holds a majority stake in the limited partnership (Madison Square Garden LP) that owns the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City, including the professional sports teams that play there—the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, and New York Liberty.
In 2004 and 2005, Cablevision provided funding for an advertising campaign against the proposed construction of a stadium on the West Side of Manhattan supported by the Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg.
