Apron Strings


Broxbourne boasts one famous resident, Matthew Wright who appeared on a BBC4 documentary in 2005 called "Apron Strings". The "fly-on-the-wall documentary shadowed Matt for a year and analysed his lifestyle. The title of the documentary - untitled when filming begin - stemmed from Matt's increasingly obvious domestic reliance on his Mother and to a lesser extent his sister. His mother was filmed over the months pandering to Matt's every whim, from ironing his shirts to giving him pocket money to buy neswpapers. The practice of bestowing pocket money in Britain is common up until the age of 14. Matt is 24. His sister was filmed on numerous occasions cooking Matt Pizzas.
