The British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship' was founded in 1893 by the Ladies' Golf Union of Great Britain. A match play tournament with 18 holes per match, the first tourament was played at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, England.
