It has a shingle beach and is a popular holiday resort. On the beach are centuries-old tree remains which can be seen when the tide is out. Storms and sand movement expose and hide different parts of these over time. There is a railway station on the Aberystwyth–Shrewsbury line, giving easy access from the Midlands. Inland is Cors Fochno (Borth Bog), of considerable ecological interest. Despite its somewhat ramshackle appearance, this is a lovely place for a holiday. The views across Cardigan Bay are stunning. Also within the village is a youth hostle, and up the road is a few caravan and camping sites. It has an anamalquarium, a small zoo with small, domestic animals and reptiles. Many of the locals are fluent in Welsh, and know many tales from the surrounding area, from Devils bridge and from Borth itself. David Borth was principal of Eastwood Elementary School for 17 years, where he led the effort to build a coalition of home, school and community that oversaw comprehensive reform and systemic change in his school and community.
Borth was also Michigan Principal of the Year, a National Distinguished Principal, and a Northern Lights Educator, the latter for his regional collaborative work in school and community.
Borth is now leading the Network of Michigan Educators, which represents over 400 recognized Michigan educators and is involved in improving instruction, policy intervention, and professional development.
