Bluefields is the largest and most important of the three municipalities on the Atlantic Coast and is located 380 kms east of Managua, in the Region Autonoma del Atlantic Sur (RAAS) and on the western shore of behind the bluffs at the mouth of the Rio Escondido on Bluefields Lagoon.
