Blake Sennett (born September 22, 1976 in San Diego, California) is the lead guitarist for indie rock band Rilo Kiley and the lead singer, lead guitarist for his alt rock side project The Elected. Blake attended La Jolla Country Day School. He attended high school with Rilo Kiley bassist Pierre De Reeder. In addition to being a musician, Sennett was a child actor, appearing on the television shows Salute Your Shorts and Boy Meets World. Sennett originally went by the names Blake Soper and Blake Swendson as an actor, but is credited in all recent works as Blake Sennett. In the early to mid-'90s, Sennett appeared in shows primarily marketed towards teens. During this period he ended up playing two big supporting roles of Ronnie Pinsky on Salute Your Shorts and Joseph 'Joey the Rat' Epstein on Boy Meets World. After Salute Your Shorts was canceled and his role on Boy Meets World was written off, Sennett switched gears and began to focus on music. Right from Rilo Kiley's inception, singer and guitarist Sennett has always been just as much of a creative force in the band as Lewis, contrary to the assumption that his ex-girlfriend is the band's main songwriter.
On that album, Sennett at times indulged his experimental side, and while there was still some excellent material, the curious mix of weird electronica and heavily country-influenced melody and instrumentation led to a quite disjointed feel.
