Billy Casper turned professional in 1954,at the age of 22,and won his first tour event two years later when capturing the Labatt Open title.
Casper's third and final major came four years later at the Masters where he triumphed in the last ever 18 hole play-off,against Gene Littler.
Billy Casper won a total of 51 events on the U.S. tour and upto then end of 2000 that is a record bettered by only five players.

Billy Casper and Coronado head pro Don Collett had hooked up with amateur Phil Rodgers, the reigning national college champion, and it was Rodgers who was charged with finding a fourth.
Billy Casper, 27 at the time and a rising tour star, didn't think he had the game to win a U.S. Open until he arrived at Winged Foot in 1959 and saw the treacherously fast and slopey greens.
Casper said he drained a 4-footer for par on the fourth hole after a bee stung him on the belly as he hit a sand shot.
