Wilson was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1949. She studied law at Dalhousie University and moved to Toronto in 1959 where she joined the firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt. She was the first woman appointed to the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1975 and, in 1982 became the first woman appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada. Wilson retired from the court in 1991 and was appointed to the Order of Canada that same year. 1949 is a common year starting on Saturday. ...
