Bernd Eichinger (born 11 April 1949) is a German film producer and director. He attended the Munich Academy for Television and Film in the 1970s, and bought a stake in the fledging studio company Neue Constantin Film in 1979, becoming its executive director. Under his leadership, Constantin Film evolved into one of the most successful German movie businesses. As of 2005, he is chairman of the supervisory board and still owns a substantial stake in the company. Eichinger also produced some movies independently (for example The Downfall). Eichinger has been a prominent figure on Germany's film scene for decades, most recently producing The Downfall, a portrait of Adolf Hitler's final days in his Berlin bunker.
"Eichinger showed a video for every state of the soul, degrading Wagner's music to the status of a soundtrack," the daily Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote.
The next performance of Eichinger's Parsifal is set for March 28.
