In person, he is a jovial, friendly man usually seen smoking his favourite pipe.
Bernard was born on a Friday 13th in 1946 in London and if asked, his mother would say he was an exceedingly small "no bigger than a chicken my dear" baby.
Terry had produced a sketch of Rincewind - on the back of an envelope, and from this Bernard sculpted the figure of Rincewind which was launched on an unsuspecting world in 1991.
It was Terry who gave Bernard the title "the Most Cunning Artificer" and while Bernard has been called many things in his life (some of them complimentary) this accolade is one which he values most highly.
