Barney & Friends - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (775 words)
Barney and Friends is a popular children's television show produced in the United States, mainly aimed at preschoolers.
Barney is a large purple anthropomorphic dinosaur (a Tyrannosaurus rex to be exact), who conveys learning through his songs and friendly, optimistic attitude ("I love you, you love me, we're a happy family, with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too!").
Although the videos were a modest regional success, Barney only became a mega hit when the character and format were revamped for series television and picked up by the Public Broadcasting System, debuting as "Barney and Friends" in 1992.
