Final-hole eagle gives Harrington the Barclays Classic victory over Furyk (895 words)
Padraig Harrington settled his see-saw battle with Jim Furyk by draining a 65-foot putt for an eagle on the 72nd hole to clinch victory in the Barclays Classic.
Harrington, who beat Vijay Singh in the Honda Classic in early March to become the first player from the Republic of Ireland to win a PGA Tour event, walked off with the $1,035,000 first-place check after Furyk let it slip away with consecutive bogeys on Nos.
Furyk left a long birdie try 4 feet left of the hole on the 372-yard 17th and missed his par attempt to drop into a tie with Harrington, setting up the dramatic finish on the par-5 closing hole.
