Encyclopedia > Atlantic Coast Football League

The Atlantic Coast Football League operated between 1962 and 1964 drawing many quality players from the East Coast schools. Though it provided the NFL with many talented players, it was a entertaining option during a time when (with lower player salaries) it could compete with other leagues. The league would fold, partly due to the effect of rapid expansion, but many of its backers and players would find new franchises in the Continental Football League.
