Most recently, Butz attracted attention when he issued a statement in which he agreed with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's alleged statement that the Holocaust is a "myth." In a press release dated December 18, 2005, Butz wrote, "I congratulate him [Ahmadinejad] on becoming the first head of state to speak out clearly on these issues [the alleged fabrication of the Holocaust], and regret only that it was not a Western head of state. His political remarks receive no comment on my side. By 'political remarks' I mean those that deal with questions of what ought to happen now" (Ahmadinejad had called for Israel to be "wiped off the map").   (Persian: ‎ , IPA: ), transcribed into English as Mahmud or Mahmood, Ahmadinezhad, Ahmadi-Nejad, Ahmadi Nejad, Ahmady Nejad) (born October 28, 1956) is the current president of the Islamic Republic of Iran. ...

Sixty-one of Butz's own colleagues in the department of electrical engineering and computer science published an official censure in February, 2006, calling for Butz to "leave our Department and our University and stop trading on our reputation for academic excellence."[1] The Never Again Campaign[2] has over 10,000 signatures on their Never Again Petition, which asks "that the Northwestern community take decisive action to sever the name of our university from Arthur Butz's bald denial of history"[3].

Arthur Butz (681 words)
Butz explains that that is why all accounts of entry into the German concentration camps speak of shaving of hair and other delousing procedures, such as the treatment of quarters with the pesticide Zyklon B. That was also the main reason for high death rates in the camps and why crematoriums had to be built.
Butz then proceeds to describe why and how minority groups, supposedly diseased, were chosen to be imprisoned.
Butz says the great majority of the millions allegedly exterminated were East Europeans, not German or West European Jews.
HAYWARD: Fate of Jews in German Hands 3/9 (19510 words)
Butz was in a 'no win' situation; his detractors would certainly have condemned him if he had written in an emotional and subjective manner and provided no references, yet for writing in a dispassionate manner and identifying all his sources he was, and continues to be, derided.
Butz not only argued that the trials were illegal and based on preconceived notions of guilt, he insisted that improper methods were used to obtain some of the evidence put forward at the trials.
Butz wrote that it is "customary to quote this letter with deletion of the reference to 'emigration and evacuation'." [136] As an example, he cited William Shirer, who had indeed left out those words when he quoted the directive on page 964 of his best-selling book, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
