Alfred H. Barr, Jr. (born 1902 in Detroit; died 1981) was an art historian and the founding director of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Barr received his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1946. Barr specialized in early twentieth-century painting. The Alfred H.
