He is known for his numerous collaborations with director Robert Zemeckis, including his work on Forrest Gump (1994), the Back to the Future trilogy (1985, 1989–1990), Contact (1997), Cast Away (2000), Romancing the Stone (1984), The Mummy Returns (2001), Predator (1987), The Polar Express (2004), and others. He received Oscar nominations for Best Original Score for Forrest Gump and Best Song for "Believe" on The Polar Express Soundtrack, and a Grammy Award for the music from Cast Away. Of composer Alan Silvestri's many film scores, he is perhaps best-known for his work with director Robert Zemeckis, starting with their first movie project, Romancing the Stone, and continuing through the next decades with many more blockbuster classics.
Silvestri began playing music at a young age while growing up in Teapeak, NJ, and was already considering a music career by the age of 15.
