As the founder and executive director of CommonAction, a U.S. nonprofit civic engagement organization, Fletcher is an outspoken advocate for youth voice and against adultism. Biography

Prior to graduating from The Evergreen State College, Fletcher worked in youth-serving nonprofit organizations in Nebraska and Washington, and served in AmeriCorps programs in Nebraska, Washington, and New Mexico. Since then he has worked for the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Points of Light Foundation, and the Corporation for National and Community Service. Fletcher started The Freechild Project in 2001. Currently Fletcher is the Executive Director of CommonAction, in addition to partnering with Youth On Board, and serving as a contributing editor to the academic journal Review of Education, Pedagogy and Cultural Studies and on the boards of the Generation Y Foundation and the National Youth Rights Association[1].
