NBA Draft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (905 words)
The NBA Draft is an annual U.S. event in which the National Basketball Association's (NBA) thirty teams can select young players who wish to join the league.
As of the 2006 NBA Draft, however, high school players must wait a year after their graduation class has finished high school before being eligible for selection.
The NBA considers all players from outside the 50 United States and the District of Columbia to be "international," even if they come from political entities that share a common citizenship with the U.S., such as Duncan's original home of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Pat Riley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (1806 words)
Riley is widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time; being the head coach of five championship teams, an assistant coach to another, and playing for one, bringing his total to seven championships overall.
He was selected by the San Diego Rockets in the 1st round of the 1967 NBA Draft, and was also drafted as a flanker by the Dallas Cowboys in the 11th round of the 1967 NFL Draft.
Riley returned to the NBA in 1977 as a broadcaster for the Lakers, and then became one of the team's assistant coaches during the 1979-80 season.
