Joyrides -- Sports cars brighten up a gray day at Gilmore Museum (1057 words)
Sports cars, an ill-defined category which spearheaded the imported car revolution in the United States after World War II, took the field on a threatening Saturday at the Gilmore Museum grounds north of Kalamazoo, Mich., providing some color and verve to the gray day.
Because of their competitive racing heritage, sports cars seem to be more nationalistic than most cars and the show cars were grouped together on the viewing field by country of origin under that country's flag.
One might trace development of the sports car back to Napoleon, who commanded construction of the long straight poplar-lined roads that criss-cross France and provided the venue for early development of auto sports in France.
Louise Suggs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (195 words)
Mae Louise Suggs (born September 7, 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia) is a veteran golfer and one of the founders of modern ladies' golf.
After a successful amateur career, she turned professional in 1948 and went on to win 55 professional tournaments (she'd already won three as an amateur), including 11 majors.
Her prowess on the golf course is reflected in the fact that from 1950 to 1960 she was only once out of the top 3 in the season-ending money list.
