Australia defeated Mexico in the Americas Zone, and Czechoslovakia defeated Sweden in the Europe Zone. Australia defeated Sweden in the Inter-Zonal play-off, but fell to defending champions the United States in the Challenge Round. The final was played at the West Side Tennis Club in Forrest Hills, NY, United States on 4-6 September. The West Side Tennis Club is a private tennis club located in Forest Hills, a neighborhood in New York City, USA.
